Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman in half profile, with hair parted in the center, covering her ears, turned under at chin length and held with a hair net, wearing a dark dress covered by a small patterned pelerine trimmed with dark lace and a white collar, ribbons gathered at the throat. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood-framed half case embossed with an urn design on the back, gilded edge trim both exterior and interior, with a red velvet pinchpad (ca. 1850).
