Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with arm resting on cloth-covered posing table, hair parted in the center and covered with a white daycap, strings untied, wearing a dark dress with a straight waistline, possible fastened in the front, long sleeved and cuffed at the wrists, with a wide flat whitework collar, a shawl wrapped around her shoulders, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design both front and back, with a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with a floral and ribbon design (1850-60s).Inscription:
