Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with hair parted in the center, soft on the sides and covering most of her ears, wearing a dark shoulder-baring dress, with dark lace wrapped around her shoulders, with fine netted silk mitts, also wearing drop earrings, a beaded necklace, a brooch on her chest and on a chain, with a watch chain at her waist, and a large ring on one finger, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame half-case embossed with a flower vase design, with an interior gilded edge trim, and a red velvet pinchpad (ca. 1850).Inscription:
