Image: 1/6 plate; Seated young woman with arm resting on cloth-covered posing table, hair parted in the center and puffed at the sides covering the ears, wearing striped dress with long belled sleeves cinched on the upper arms just below the armscye, with gilded drop earrings, a necklace with a gilded front clasp, a gilded brooch near the neckline, and three gilded rings on her fingers, color applied to her cheeks and the table covering. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s).
