Image: 1/16 plate on red ruby glass; Head and shoulders of a woman with hair parted in the center and covering her ears, wearing a dark dress with a standing white collar with a gilded brooch at the throat. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Paper-covered wood framed half case embossed with a geometric design on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad (1850-60s).
