Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with hair parted in the center, wearing a dress belted at the waist, with long sleeves snug to the elbow then opening in an exaggerated bell trimmed with dark ribbon, with ruffled white undersleeves and dark cuffs, a wide flat whitework collar, drop earrings, the brooch at her throat, and a ring on her finger all gilded, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with ornate matte finish (late 1850s onward). Case: [none].
