Image: Oval 1/9 plate; Head and shoulders of a woman with hair parted in the center, smoothed over the head and puffed in braids covering the ears, wearing a dark dress with buttons up the front, and a white turned down collar, with a brooch at her throat and beads or pearls falling down the front of the dress, with a fur-trimmed wrap around her shoulders, color applied to her cheeks.
Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s).

Case: Plain Red-velvet covered oval case (Berg No. 6-17a) with push-button fastener, and a white silk cushion.
