Image: 1/6 plate; Child seated on a wooden posing chair, wearing a dark shoulder-baring short-sleeved dress in a dark fabric with light spots, with knee-high white stockings and black kid shoes with open fronts. Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood frame embossed with a floral design on the front and a geometric design on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with a scrollwork design (1850s).
