Image: 1/9 plate; Seated woman with arm resting on cloth covered posing table wearing a light colored long sleeved dress covered with whitework-edged bretelles with a corsage on her décolletage as well as on bands around her upper arms, with a dark fabric belt at the waist, and a dark ribbon around her throat and both wrists, baubles and ribbons in her center parted hair, wearing large drop earrings and several rings on her fingers, color applied to her hair ribbon and cheeks, gilding aplied to her corsage, necklace and one ring. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Paper covered wood frame embossed with a floral design both front and back, with a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with a scrollwork design (1850-60s).
