Image: 1/6 plate with a J. P. hallmark (French daguerreotype plate manufacturer's plate hallmark) in the upper right corner; Seated man with arm resting on cloth covered posing table, hair parted on one side and covering the ears, wearing a dark jacket, vest, and trousers, with a white shirt with a large upturned collar and a pattern printed tie, a watch chain clasped to his buttonhole and tucked in a breast pocket, color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Oval with sandy finish (late 1840s). Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a floral design on the front and a geometric design on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a flower and vase design (ca. 1850).Format:
