Image Description:
Photograph depicts portrait of Andrew William Mellon.  Mellon was an American banker, philanthropist, industrialist, and United States Secretary of the Treasury.   Born on March 24, 1855 to Thomas and Sarah Mellon of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mellon grew up to be one of the brightest financial prodigies in the United States.  His legacy includes profitable enterprises in the banking, aluminum, and industrial abrasives industries.  Mellon served as the United States Secretary of the Treasury from 1921-1932.  Mellon died in New York on August 26, 1937. 

From original photo caption: "Andrew W. Mellon, former Secretary of the Treasury, former Ambassador of the United States to the Court of St. James, banker and patron of the arts and sciences, who died at the age of 82 August 26 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. David K.E. Bruce."
