Image: 1/6 plate on red ruby glass; Seated woman with arms resting on posing table, hair pulled back off the face with ribbons at the back, wearing a long sleeved dress made of a dark fabric with a lighter printed pattern, with a flat white collar that does not meet at the front, with gilded earrings, necklace, brooch, and rings. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Paper covered wood frame embossed with a floral design on both the front and back, with a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with a flower and vase design (1850-60s).
