Image: 1/6 plate on red ruby glass; Seated woman with arm resting on posing table, with hair parted at the center and covering the ears, with a ribbon in the back, wearing a long sleeved paisley printed dress with a dark trim, as well as drop earrings and a large brooch at her throat, color applied to her cheeks and lips. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Paper covered wood frame half case embossed with a common Thistle Motif design [Plate 119 on page 115 of "American Miniature Case Art" by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co., Inc., 1969)] on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad (ca. 1858).
