Image Description:
Image: 1/9 plate; Head an shoulders of a woman with hair parted in the center and smoothed down over the head covering the ears, with ringlets falling to the shoulders, wearing a dark dress with a flat whitework collar, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a simple lined edge trim both front and back, a rose red velvet pinchpad, and a plain (unembossed) eggplant purple cushion (ca. 1850).
Inscription:
(printed on paper): Elizabeth Budd Kner Earl (Collins) (1824 - 1904) 4th daughter of Thomas Sykes Earl. Married Isaac / Collins III on Dec. 9, 1847. (Identifying List for Daguerreotypes and Ambrotypes (housed with collection))
