Photocopy of an advertisement from an 1891 issue of Scribner's Magazine. The illustration depicts a well-dressed woman conversing with an older Irish maid. The maid holds an oil lamp in her hand. The dialog indicates she intends to throw it out. Her employ asks if it smokes and the maid, "Bridget" responds, "Sure an' Oi don't know if it schmokes or dhrinks, but it goes out noights." The copy recommends purchasing a "Pittsburgh" lamp which has no bad habits and is "adapted to Bridget."
