Biography:

Richard Peters was an English immigrant heavily involved in Pennsylvania culture and politics. He was a rector at Christ Church in Philadelphia, secretary to a series of governors of Pennsylvania, director of the Library Company of Philadelphia (1750-1764), manager of Pennsylvania Hospital (1751-1752), member of the American Philosophical Society, and one of the founders of the University of Pennsylvania.
