Biography:

Father of Francis Daniel Pastorius (1651-1720), founder of Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Melchior Pastorius was a local civic official who traveled in his youth and later held various high public offices in the Imperial City of Windsheim. He was a well-educated and religious man who wrote both poetry and sermons.
