Biography:
Philadelphia bookseller and printer, born in England. After immigrating to Philadelphia, he established a printing office notable for publishing the first American editions of the works of Horace, Virgil, and Ovid, among other classics. He also served as a member of the Philadelphia Select Council. He died in Philadelphia on September 10, 1811, at age 56.
