Uriah Hunt Painter was a newspaper correspondent, lobbyist, and businessman of West Chester County, and of Washington, D.C. During the Civil War, Painter was a Washington correspondent of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Painter also had numerous business interests and a variety of industrial enterprises.
