Biography:

Captain in the Union Army during the American Civil War.  His tombstone is inscribed: "First Defender Apr 28, 1861; Capt Washington Artillery; Capt, Co B 25 Regt Pa Vol; Capt, Co B 48 Regt Pa Vol; Major, 48 Regt Pa Vol."
