James Grant was a Philadelphia mission school superintendent and the first delegate of the United States Christian Commission, which aided wounded soldiers of both sides during the Civil War.(1) are pages 43-65 of the volume in which Grant describes the care and treatment of soldiers wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg.
