Item is a songbook titled "Spirituelles: Unwritten Songs of South Carolina." It includes the words of songs the Carolina Singers performed during their campaign of 1872-73. They were transcribed from memory by Christine Rutledge who sang with the Carolina Singers and published by Henry L. Acker of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Book includes 36 songs such as, The Gospel Train, Steal Away, O Sinnerman, Ride on Blessed Jesus, and Go Down Moses. There is no musical notation or indication of melody or tune.
