Item is a pamphlet titled "Ariel Refuted: A Complete Exposure of a Pamphlet entitled, "The Negro" written by Ephraim Baynard Seabrook and published in 1867 by John Russel of Charleston, South Carolina.  In the orignial pamphlet, "Ariel" or Buckner H. Payne argued that the African race was a pre-Adamic beast of the field.  This response is intended to counter "Ariel's" writings.
