Ledger of the personal financial accounts of Samuel Powel (1738-1793) containing records spanning 1760-1793.  Powel served as Mayor of Philadelphia from 1775-76 and 1789-90 and perished in September 1793 during Philadelphia's Yellow Fever epidemic.

(1) is entry for purchase of a horse from Charles Stedman (page 104); (2) is payment made to William Shippen, Jr. for attending to Powel's wife Elizabeth during her pregnancy (page 137); (3) is payment made to George Claypoole for coffins for children.
