Painting, oil on millboard, showing interior view of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania at Spruce Street Hall.  This painting is the second and smaller of two interior views of the Society and its staff and patrons by artist Isaac L. Williams. Prior to becoming the Society's library, 820 Spruce Street was owned by Pennsylvania Hospital and was home to Benjamin West's religious painting, Christ Healing the Sick in the Temple.
