Commission by which William Penn designated James Logan to be Clerk of the Council of Pennsylvania and Secretary of the Province during Penn's absence from the colony in England. Thomas Story, first recorder of Philadelphia, drew up the commission.

This document is folded at the bottom and sewn to the rest of the document with blue ribbon. It contains one line of text under the fold and not visable here. William Penn's signature is on the visible portion of the fold, although it is partially covered by the ribbon.
