Chestnut Street Female Seminary, was founded 1850 as an elite boarding and day school for women from prominent and wealthy families. This pamplet includes information about the school principals, Mary L. Bonney and Harriette A. Dillaye, as well as the school's general operations. Included in the pamphlet are: conditions of admittance, course of study, division of studies, tuition cost, necessary text books, etc. It also includes testimonials and references for the school. According to this pamphlet, the school contained "various departments of literature and science. Music, Painting, Penciling, Crayon, Latin and French receive careful attention."
