These documents were transcribed by Samuel Hazard (1781-1870). A former curator of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Hazard began working for the Pennsylvania State Archives in 1851. He supervised the preperation of the sixteen volume series Colonial Records and the twelve volume series Pennsylvania Archives: Selected and Arranged From Original Documents in the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
