Photograph depicts Catherine Littlefield (left) conducting auditions, while an unidentified young lady and gentlemen work on music (right).  Littlefield was an American ballerina and choreographer who founded the Philadelphia Ballet Company in 1935.  She was also one of the first inductees into the National Museum of Dance’s Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame in 1987.
