Image Description:
Horace M. Trumbauer architectural drawings for the residence of Robert L. Montgomery.  It is one of the classic estate homes in the Philadelphia suburb known as "the Main Line."  The estate, named Ardrossan, was a working farm, raising Ayeshire dairy cattle.  It was also the setting for the 1940 film The Philadelphia Story, which was inspired by Helen Hope Montgomery Scott.  The estate has since been subdivided into conservation areas and house lots.  This online record contains numerous plans for the house and outbuildings, but does not include all of the plans in the collection.
