This digital record contains images that depict handwritten letters written by women, and sometimes their sponsers, seeking asylum in the Indigent Widows' and Singe Women's Society. The letters are addressed to the managers of the Society. These eight letters were selected for digitization as a representative sample. The folder they are held in contains many more applications that are not currently digitized.
