Image Description:
Letter written by American poet Walt Whitman to a reluctant publisher, or possibly an editor, explaining his desire for a collection of his prose to be published in conjunction with Leaves of Grass and a book of biography and criticism. Whitman specifies that it is his desire for the three volumes to be pulished by "the same house and hands." The letter is probably referring to his prose work "Specemin Days," which was published later in 1882 by Rees, Welsh, and Company in Philadelphia.
