Depicted in the foreground of this exterior scene is a group of slaves comprised of men, children and one female. All are in chains and entreating two white males, one of which is on horseback. In the distance at left is a ship, which appears to be coming to shore to take away the captured group. In the distant right is a three-domed building, which appears to fly the American flag atop the larger center dome.
