Image Description:
Yellow, two story mansion with white trim and brick showing at each corner. The house has a large front porch and second-story balcony, both with white columns. On the property, there are several trees in autumn colors, and people stand near the entrance of the mansion.
Inscription:
Lansdown Mansion. Built by Hon. John Penn, Governor of Pennsylvania, Burnt down about 1854. In 1865 the old walls were removed. In 1869 The Commissioners of Fairmount Park filled up the cellar and leveled the ground and nothing left to mark where the old mansion stood. On May 10, 1876, the western part of Horticultural Centennial Building covers the spot. This sketch is taken from an old picture by Mr. Wm. Birch about 1798. by D.J. Kennedy. (Front Bottom)
