Coopers Point, Camden, New Jersey, from east side of Smiths Island looking up the Delaware River, 1864. On the February 10, 1843, after the Ferryboat Dido, from market street wharf passed through the canal and was nearing Camden N.J. Singleton Mercer shot and killed Hutch Heberton who occupied a back seat in a close carriage on board the boat fleeing from the vengence of a brother whose sister he had wrenged. Tried at Trenton & acquitted.
