Old Anchor found in the middle of the Schuylkill River at Market street bridge when building the new Iron one in 1887. It was made with only one fluke and is said to beo ne of those which kept the Grays Ferry floating bridge in place when the British had it towed up to Market Street from Gray's Ferry during their occupation of Philadelphia, which they evacuated in June 1778 having lain in the bed of the river for 109 years. Dimensions, lenth 10 feet, depth 3 in, thicness 2/12 in. at elbow and stock 4 in ring 16 inchest, diameter 2 in thick, stock 2 in, from elbow to point of fluke 4 feet, fluke 18 in each way
