Image Description:
Volume 2 of Adam Hubley's journal spans July to October 1779 and is an account of the Western Expedition commanded by Major General Sullivan. The journal contains drawings, maps, plans of the territory traversed, a narrative of the hardships experienced and of the final success and victorious return of the expedition. (1) is a sketch of one of the Indian Houses at Jenise; (2) is a sketch of the Encampment near Newtown (Aug 29th, 1779); (3) is a sketch of "trees painted by the Indians between Oswegy and Chunkunut on the [illegible] Susquehanna (page 4); (4) is a sketch of Buttermilk Falls (page 5); (5) is a drawing of trees near "Kayuga" (page 36).
