Plan of Ground belonging to Corswall Lighthouse, 2 miles west of mouth of Lochryan Scotland. Steamer "Clydesdale" sailing from Glasgow to Belfast took fire near to Ailsa Craig and ran ashore here at 2 o'clock on the morning of May 1828. Capt Turner Crew and about 70 passengers landed safely, excepting the mate whose face and hands were severly burned and he stood by the wheel while the captain called to him through the flames until she struck the rocks when he leaped overboard. I witnessed this D.J.Kennedy.
