Two-story brick hotel with a sign that reads, "Penrose Ferry Hotel W.H. Read." Located right across from the Schuylkill River, which has boats sailing on it.
Inscription:
Penrose Ferry Hotel, W.H. Read. from the southwest side of the Penrose Ferry bridge across the Schuylkill River, Kingsessing, Philadelphia, PA. For this sketch I am indebted to Mrs. S.M. Elliot who drove me there in her carriage and waited for me, on January 13th, 1891. (Front Bottom)
