Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate; Profile of man from waist up wearing jacket, vest, tie with high white collar, and spectacles, with hand placed on table, with color applied to his cheek. Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Elliptical with sandy finish (late 1840s). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame with a scarce "Bird and Grapes" design (Berg No. 5-34) on front, and geometric design on back, red velvet pinchpad, red velvet cushion embossed with rare floral and bird design (1850-60s).
