Image: 1/6 plate; Head and shoulders of a man wearing a jacket with a high collar, a vest, tie, and upturned collar, with color applied to the cheeks. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Nonpariel with ornate matte finish (late 1850s onward). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame with a geometric design embossed front and back, with red velvet pinchpad, and red velvet cushion embossed with flowers in basket design (1850-60s).
