Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate: Reproduction of a painting, with frame visible along the right and bottom edges, of a woman wearing a lace rimmed cap or bonnet, with a sheer collar or shawl about her shoulders, and large, loose cuffs on her sleeves that end just below the elbow. Preserver: Stiff & heavy (1847-50). Matt: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame with a geometric design embossed on both front and back, with a gilded pattern along the edge on the inside of the case, with red velvet pinchpad, and red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850-1860s).
