Image: 1/6 plate on purple ruby glass; Head and shoulders of a a man with hair parted on the side, wearing a dark jacket with a high back collar, white shirt buttoned at the front, with a dark bow tie, and a white collar with points turned down, color applied to his cheeks and lips. Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design both front and back, with gilded pattern along interior edge, red velvet pinchpad and red cushion embossed with a geometric and floral design (1850-60s).Inscription:
