Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate; Reproduction of a drawing of a young woman's face in half-profile with flowers in her hair and around her neck, wearing a white bodice, hand coloring applied to the flowers, face, neck and shoulders, eyes, cheeks and lips.
Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s).
Mat: Double elliptical with matte surface (mid 1840s - mid 1850s).
Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with geometric design front and back, with a red velvet pinchpad, and red velvet cushion embossed with a floral design (1850s).
Inscription:
(printed in blue ink): EDWARD T. STUART / 205 GLENN ROAD / ARDMORE, PENNSYLVANIA
(pencil): This daguerreotype was found by me / at the Edwin Forrest Home, "Springbrook" / near Tacony, Phila. the old home of George / H. Stuart who sold the place to Edwin Forrest - / I was invited to look over old papers before / they were discarded and found this old / daguerreotype which was in the Forrest effects / several years ago. / E. T. Stuart / 12/17/33
