Image: 1/6 plate; Girl and boy standing in front of a painted studio backdrop of a large building with columns, color applied to the sky, and a studio prop fence; Girl leaning against a cloth covered posing table with hair parted in the center and in ringlets to her shoulders, wearing a floral printed short-sleeved dress with narrow, rather long white drawers of the trowser shape trimmed in whitework, with white stockings and black shoes, two rings on her fingers and three necklace strands around her neck, color applied to her cheeks and the table cloth; Boy with hand resting on girl's shoulder, hair parted on side with ear-length ringlets, wearing longs pants and unbuttoned jacket, with white shirt, dark tie, and collar tips turned down, color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Double elliptical with matte surface (mid 1840s - mid 1850s). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design both front and back, with gilded patterned trim on interior, red velvet pinchpad, and red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850-60s).
