Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate; Head and shoulders of a woman with hair parted in the center, wearing a sheer daycap, dressed in a dark dress with pleats running back over the shoulders and a sheer chemisette, with color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design both front and back, with gilded edge trim on both exterior and interior, with red velvet pinchpad, and red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850-60s).
