Image: 1/6 plate; Seated young woman with hand and elbow resting on an uncovered posing table, hair parted in center and pulled behind ears, dressed in a shoulder-baring spotted dress with short ruffled sleeves, with fine netted silk mitts, and a silk bow attached to a white collar around her neck, and small hoop earrings, color applied to her cheeks.
Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850).
Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s).
Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design both front and back, with a gilded patterned interior edge trim, a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with the photographer's address (1850s).
