Image: 1/6 plate; Woman seated with arm resting on a fabric-covered posing table adorned with a book, hair parted at the center and curled over the ears with a tall tortoise comb tucked into the knot of hair at the back of the crown , wearing a long-sleeved dark dress, with white lace collar and cuffs, with brass buttons descending from the throat all the way down the length of the dress in the front center, with a buckled belt at the waist, a brooch at the throat, and a ring on her hand. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Octagonal with matte finish (1850). Case: [none].Inscription:
