Image: 1/4 plate; Seated woman with hair parted in the center in a padded wings style, with an arm resting on a cloth-covered posing table, wearing a black silk skirt and a lighter bodice with buttoned at the front, a whitework collar, and wide whitework undersleeves, draped in a black shawl with laced edges, black lace ribbons in her hair, black wrist ribbons with matching brooches, a large ring on her finger, and earrings. Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Double elliptical, more ornate (1850s onwards). Case: [none].
