Image: 1/4 plate; Boy with shoulder length curly hair parted in the middle, standing in front of a posing chair, with one hand grasping a cloth-covered posing table, the other holding a straw hat decorated with ribbons, dressed in light colored trousers buttoned to a long-sleeved, light colored shirt pleated at the front, with a white collar and cuffed sleeves. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Octagonal with matte finish embossed with an all-over hexagonal design (early 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a lyre design on the front only with a plain (unembossed) back, embossed interior edge lines which may have been gilded, a red velvet pinchpad and a rose red silk cushion (1839-50).
